After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives, and your homes."
Nehemiah 4:14
The people who were rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem had become scared of the enemy. Nehemiah did not just tell them to lighten up. He said to remember the Lord and fight for your families. There is grace in that moment. God does not wait until we feel brave. He steps in when we are afraid and shaking in fear. He reminds us that He is bigger than any enemy and gives us the strength to stand up for those we love. We do not have to find the courage or fight on our own. God not only sees us, but is right beside us in the middle of our fear to help keep us going.
