The Lord bless you and keep you.
Numbers 6:24

At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.
Numbers 9:23

When we began this one-year reading plan, I said that on Summation Day I would usually give you only one verse to read—but count it as a double blessing. Today you have two. As we journeyed with the Israelites through the wilderness, we encountered blessings, guidance, and rebellion. These two verses beautifully summarize the heart of those chapters while also reflecting the themes of both psalms.

The key themes this week included the Priestly (Aaronic) Blessing in Numbers 6:24, the Nazarite vow, the wilderness journey, God’s divine guidance, and the people’s recurring lack of faith. Even Balaam’s oracles—spoken by someone outside Israel—became prophetic blessings over God’s people, reminding us that no external opposition can change what God has declared.

Psalm 90, a prayer by Moses, it looked internally at human mortality, the shortness of life, and our dependence on God’s mercy in contrast to His eternal nature. Psalm 95 looked outward, calling God’s people to joyful praise and worship the Lord who guided them, while also warning against hard hearts and rebellion. Written by David, it gave a warning, looking back on the wilderness journey and the disobedience of the Exodus generation as a lesson for future generations.

The wandering, the shortness of life, and the warnings against unbelief and rebellion are not just history- they are deeply applicable to us today. As we move through our own times of waiting and wandering, we are reminded that blessing comes from the Lord, and direction comes from obedience to His voice.

As we enter just the third month of this reading plan, I want to cheer you on. You are showing up, reading and interacting with the Facebook question of the day. You are staying faithful in the Word. That matters more than you may realize. My prayer is that the Lord would bless you and keep you, guide you in every step, soften your heart to His voice, and teach you to trust Him fully—whether you are encamped or setting out.

Today's discussion question:

What does it look like in everyday life to trust God whether you’re “encamped” or “setting out”?
